Ferolyn Powell joined Abbott Vascular in November 2009 after Abbott acquired Evalve for $320 million in cash plus $90 million if certain milestones are met. Ferolyn currently serves as the Divisional Vice President and General Manager of Abbott Vascular Structural Heart. Ferolyn joined Evalve in 1999 as the President, CEO and a member of the Board of Directors. Under Ferolyn's leadership, the company went from concept to acquisition, raised over $100M, developed the European market and created jobs for more than 400 employees. Ferolyn is an executive with more than 25 years experience in the medical device industry. Prior to joining Evalve in 1999, Ms. Powell held various positions at General Surgical Innovations (acquired by Tyco) including Vice President of Operations, with responsibility for Quality and Regulatory Affairs. Ms. Powell also previously served as head of R&D at Adjacent Surgical (acquired by GSI), and Director of R&D at Devices for Vascular Interventions (DVI), Guidant Corporation's atherectomy catheter division. Prior to DVI, Ms. Powell held various technical management positions at Frantz Medical Development and Life Systems, Inc. She holds an M.S.E. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Akron and a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Cleveland State University.
